In the Process of Switching Over to WordPress
They always say “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”
Well that’s the excuse that I’m going to use for taking so long to switch this site over to the Wordpress platform. For years this site was designed and managed using the Miva Merchant Software. Miva worked fine but…I had purchased a lifetime license then out of the blue Miva upgraded their software and informed the person that I had actually purchased the license from that there was now a monthly fee that was also going to be charged.
Actually one of my hosting companies was the Miva license holder, when they called to tell me about the new monthly charge they thought that I could continue to use the Miva software and not pay the monthly charge, I just would not be eligible for any of the software’s updates.
That was a couple of months ago. I had checked the site and everything seemed to be working fine. It wasn’t until I actually went to make an edit to one of the pages that I discovered that Miva had left the site operational but had in fact shutdown the administration panel that controlled the site. I could not even get into the admin panel unless I paid a months fee.
A Blessing In Disguise
I had switched most all of my other sites over to WordPress over the past year. I am so impressed with WordPress, it has surpassed everything that I had hoped for and allows me to do things automatically that I couldn’t do no matter how hard I tried on any other platform that I had tried before WordPress.
So as it turns out Miva just gave me the push that I needed to do something that should have been done long ago.
